Silica in Skincare

  • Roles:
  • Comedogenicity: 0

Silica is used for improving texture of the product. It helps the product to spread out evenly. Very often it’s used in different exfoliants as an abrasive. It's safe and non-toxic.

Production

It’s the second most abundant element on Earth, so the human body doesn’t have any negative reactions when it contacts silica. Despite it being so widespread on Earth, manufacturers use synthetic silica for making cosmetics.
