Safe in cosmetics in the present practices of use and concentration described in the safety assessment. Glycerin is reported to be used at concentrations up to 78.5% in leave-on products, 68.6% in rinse-off products, and 47% in products diluted for the bath. It was not dermally irritating to rabbits when applied at concentrations up to 100% to up to 30% of the body surface 8 h/d, 5 d/week for 45 weeks. Glycerin was a mild dermal irritant at 100% in guinea pigs. It doesn't lead to damage when administered to human eye, only leads to burning without injury.

Glycerin can be either organic or chemical. Natural one is considered to be safer because it’s considered to be purified better. Chemical may contain different additives. But if the manufacturer uses expensive ingredient there is nothing to worry about.
